This bird looks almost like our Red-Shouldered Hawk in Florida.
Have you ever compared the two.

Fantastic series of captures David, but the close-up crop in the 2nd image blows me away. All very well executed.
I also noticed you use a fair amount of positive exposure bias and pattern mode metering. Do you feel that has advantages over spot metering in these situations?
