Kindle used to come in 9.7" form. The Kindle DX
I like using my tablet for reading books especially on photography, just easier with colors and what adjustments can be made and how it effects certain colors.

iPad Mini here and have all my photog manuals on it. Fits in my camera bag, is light, and easy to read on.

I'm using it to type this!

I'd say the format also has to do. If you are reading epubs then you can resize the font on a tablet like the nexus 7. Pdf's look fine on it too. And using Mantano reader you can make it occupy most of the length of the tablet.

i like my samsung galaxy note 10.1, as i can read books on it, the manuals for my camera bodies, etc, but i can also pop open photoshop touch and tinker around with image editing (made handy with the s-pen).

I was using my BB Playbook for e-reading, then upgraded to the iPad 4 and it's amazing. If the bright screen bothers you, just change the screen options. You can also change font size with the e-reader apps.

I have a tablet with an IPS screen, and a paperwhite. I ALWAYS reach for the paperwhite for reading. No question at all.

I used a Kindle for a couple years, but I recently got an iPad Mini. I installed the Kindle app on it and reversed the setup so it is white text on a black background for less glare. Love it.

Totally agree, but the primary issue is that e-readers only come in 6" variety anymore, which is too small for technical books.

Yea I know... That does suck. I have lately been reading my technical stuff on my computer bc as I read it Im applying it. I tried using my iPad, but aside from no liking LCDs for reading, I like to read laying down and it gets heavy to hold like the Kindle and my hand/arm gets tired.
