The list of items on rebate has been published on cpw. The after-rebate prices don't look particularly good.

A Canon rebate on 43 lenses and 5 flashes starts tomorrow, April 14th, and runs until April 27th. Check out the list of what will be on rebate and their current prices:

http://www.canonpricewatch.com/canon-rebates-april-2013 (external link)

Note that there is a minimum advertised price that is active during this rebate.

Thanks. It looks like the prices are below the minimum advertised price for most lenses. What does that mean? Why are stores allowed to go below MAP this time but not before?

I believe that the MAP is the before rebate price. It looks to me like the MAP have actually gone up so that there is very little (if any) savings after rebate.

I have been looking to possibly purchase the 10-22 for the last couple months. I saw that the rebates were coming out and decided to wait. $100 rebate, but they raised the price by $100. Am I seeing this correctly ??????

Yea thats Canons strategy now. Let me explain... Base price for a 24LII was 1400 w/rebate and 1550 without/ Rebate ends raises price to 1650/ Applys new rebate price now 1550/ Rebate ends price raises to 1750/ Rebates Begin price now 1650/Rebates end price increase to 1850/ Rebate begins price now 1750... and on and on and on...... Its getting pretty ridiculous seeing as how the yen's value dropped, which should mean a price drop. CANON IS GETTING GREEDY!

Canon Direct price today is $860 before rebate, $760 after rebate. I have a note from June 2011 that the price was also $860. So their price is the same as 2 years ago. They did not raise the price before rebate, not this time, as far as I can tell.

Perhaps what you saw was a discounted price by a retailer, below MAP (Minimum Advertised Price), who then reverted to the MAP when the rebate started?

I have been watching prices on a 15-85 for a couple weeks now, got all excited about the $100 rebate, till I looked at my notes from last week and realized I was only saving like a buck or two :(

Nothing pisses me off more then a false sale

It's harder to find a period with NO rebates than with rebates these days. Canon rebates are rather pointless.

the camera prices went up too, in response to the rebate so there's truly little to no change in price.

Yes, they are on the list (P. 11): http://www.usa.canon.com …anonAuthorizedDealers.pdf (external link)

EDIT: I just noticed that the $1989 price includes an "In Store Rebate". I wonder if this would matter when trying to get a price match?
