I mount it direct to the monopod. It's just a simple Manfrotto 680B, but it holds it well.

Was interested in this, but saw on B & H web site that its only compatible with version II of the super zooms. Think it would work on version I? It sure looks the same.

I bought .9 sheet ND and cut 52mm discs to sandwich in stock drop in thingie.

Works great!

It looks the same to me too and the current 400 DO is listed so my guess is it will work. B&H would know for sure.

Yes I'll look forward to seeing the results too. I can never understand why my 2x mk11 + 300 mk1 work best in subdued light. The 1.4x is great in any light. I shoot motorsport so speed of focus is important. I use the 300 on a Manfrotto monopod most of the time.

Finally got my 300! Damn it's a nice lens. And not quite as heavy as I expected it to be :)
