Playing around with the new Kenko 1.4x TC on my 400 5.6 this morning. It AF'd fine at f8 on the 6D. These are pretty heavy crops, too.

Couple Downy WP shots.

Jan, the noise isn't a function of the lens. What body are you using and what ISO are you shooting at? Can you post a histogram?

I know, I was just referring to the noise, it was shot at 800 on a Rebel XS.
Obviously not lens fault just pointed out that particular image to have been noisy.

landscapes are tricky. have to be very far away lol.

my other lenses were in the car for this hike so i went with it

Good stuff. Mine gets really soft if I shot anything at infinity. Or it might be back focusing a tad. I focus micro adjusted the lens already. Getting perfect results at 35x the focal length. Typically shoot at the 14-20m range. 20m is the last measurement given on the distance scale before you hit the infinity marker. That is where my lens falls apart. :(

I'm in Canada. Isn't that weird!

...the small birds which live in my garden have been keeping a low profile. They've started to come out of hiding today but they're still very wary:
