Lisa, you're definitely going to come across a couple of people who think the photos doesn't work for them (me in this case). You're definitely a fantastic photographer (one of the best portrait photographers in PotN in my opinion) and whatever comments some people post doesn't change that fact. I'm a little surprised that you're getting so defensive about it though.

Beautiful shots Lisa! Incredible location and lovely model!
Every time I am in Vegas I just wish I could out to the Valley of Fire... trade shows/conferences kill that opportunity.

I agree with this sentiment (that photo styles liked by one person will not be another person's cup of tea), but the comment of "Meh, it's ok" was not constructive in anyway, even for a critique thread, which this is not. Different photography styles will suit people in different ways, but a comment like that has no place in a thread like this as it doesn't contribute to the thread in anyway. I think that might have brought up my defenses, also. Just my opinion.

Thank you kacebelle...that was my main issue with it. It wasn't critique, or a suggestion of how he thinks I could have improved the shots. It was just a rude comment. Either way, I'm just not up for it now. Blame it on hormones or whatever (I'm 7mo pregnant) but I'm extremely happy with the images and this is the most fun I've had shooting in a long time. The images are on my blog for those who want to see them but be warned, I only accept nice comments there. ;) I'm taking my 2 gorgeous senior reps to this location next weekend and can't wait to work with some older girls. It should be fun! My pregnancy is winding down and I only have a few more weeks that I'm taking sessions, so trying to enjoy it while I can before I go on a break.

I agree that the "Meh, it's ok" comment was a little rude and unconstructive but as photographers, we're just going to have to let those roll off our shoulders :D But wow, 7 month pregnant and still taking photos?! That must be tough. Congrats by the way! :D

I'm not sure why some of the others didn't think these were lovely photos. I'm not a photo judge and don't pretend to be but I know what I like and I like these. Good use of natural light, poses in natural settings are good and the processing is good. What's not to like. I'd have any of these on my walls.

So I had to look at previous posts from this poster and found out what I thought I would find out. Just a gear head with no nads to post any of his own work. I dislike people who just pop in once in a while to make comments about other people's work, but is not confident enough in his own work to post theirs. Lame comments like these show the true character

I don't understand this comment. Just because someone doesn't post their own work, that doesn't mean they're not allowed to voice opinion of their own in this forum. After all, when someone posts samples of their work in this site or for any site in that matter, they are subjected to both praise and criticism.

I mean, I'm no actor, but am I not allowed to criticize horrible acting when I'm watching TV?. Btw, Lisa's work is great, I'm a huge fan of her, I just had to comment on this particular post.

Usually when someone critiques something they will point out key features to what ever it is they see wrong. This "meh, it's ok" thing only signifies that this person does not care for the picture and what ever was involved in it to create it yet its somewhat alright to his standards and yet again not explaining why or why not... Yes we are all entitled to an opinion but at least bring some type of challenge or advice on how to make something better then ok IMO.

Alot of these pros, if you will, here in POTN are sometimes are too good in their own minds to share their views I guess.. It is the reason I slowed my posting of Images here. And trust me my images are no where near Lisa's quality and many others here that inspire me..
