Grand Am made its first ever visit to the famous Road Atlanta circuit yesterday...it was really nice to have them at my home track...it was a bummer to shoot RA from the spectator side, but it meant no pressure, and I could shoot the cars I wanted to, and do things I wanted...these are my favorites. C&C is more than welcome, thanks for looking.

Excellent panning!

Thanks. Having no need to actually get a lot of keepers, I used the day to work on my slow pans...shot a lot at 1/20 and 1/30.

Very nice set. Not being familiar with racing photography, what was the focal length of the lens you used the 1/20 and 1/30 shutter speed?

Thank you. I added the settings above each image for reference.

Thanks. Yeah, when shooting from the spectator perspective, its hard to get the cool shallow head on shots or some of the other cool signature RA shots...so panning it was. I needed to knock the rust off for an upcoming shoot.

Hey Ron, Thanks! I have a lot more practice, you just have to keep at it, what I have seen of yours is already better than the trash I shot when I first started.

How did the DW run today?

Great panning skills, I think you should try going for lower than 1/20!

Great set of shots!! It's not easy to pan at those shutter speeds but you did a fantastic job! I love shot #4 of the car jumping the curb on turn 3.

Hey Tim, thanks for taking the time, and for the kind words. This was my best set of images panning at that slow shutter speed, I just kept at it for the weekend...#4 was one of those shots, that when I got it, I said, ok, got what I wanted...next location!
