A few years ago an idiot poisoned 2 trees at Toomer's Corner at Auburn. This morning a crew came in and cut them down.

Covered the event for Getty:

One image I took has been getting a lot of play. I wanted to get a shot of one of the trees during the sunrise. It didn't quite come out like I wanted, but I still like it. It's been making rounds on various picture of the day sites.

Here's a screenshot of LA Time's picture of the day:

Thanks for sharing. I have seen the sunrise photo going around on FB. Those who did not go to Auburn really don't understand what the big deal is. I am just sad my daughter never got to see the trees as we live so far away now. War Eagle!

My guess is Harvey Updike can mumble "Roll damn Tide" and teach his cell mates to recite his hatred for the trees at Toomer's corner and Auburn.
That is one well shot image, you must have used the "Spot On" setting on your camera.

A great photo only starts with the shutter release,

Great shot, Chang. Love the lighting coming off of the drugstore across the street. It was a sad day to see the Toomer's Oaks come down. Rediculous Bamers'.... Glad I got to get there with my kids last year on my way through so they could see the trees before they were tore down. War Damn Eagle!!
