This is by far one of my favorite places to shoot and I was lucky enough to spend a few days here during my recent 2-week trip though the area. I got a little rain/snow but that meant good clouds as the weather broke. I should be able to dig up a few other images as well once I get more time to edit. Enjoy!

3) I made the plunge and did this hike in the dark once the moon set. I've never been so giddy to edit a picture before.

4) Can't miss a Mesa Arch sunrise. I wanted to do a pano but there were waaaay too many photographers in the way. It's a shame.

Like the first shot--as nice a shot of False Kiva you'll find. I admire your courage in staying after dark and shooting the Milky Way. Must have been a rough scramble up in the dark.

Thanks for the comments! The hike wasn't actually as bad as I was expecting. I hiked down in the early afternoon and shot until sunset (unfortunately most of the clouds cleared by then). The moon didn't set until 3am so I hiked back out, slept for a bit, and then came back down in the dark. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

And I can see why. That photo of the night sky came out BRILLIANTLY. :)
From your photo I can envision myself being an early cave dweller and peering out at the night sky from the relative safety of my cave. ;)

I really appreciate the positive comments guys! Canyonlands is quite surreal; I hope that any photographer would get to shoot there someday.
