Only had a couple of seconds to grab this one. 6D, 70-300L, Kenko 1.4x TC, AF handheld. Not as sharp as I'd like as I forgot to reset after yesterday and ended up shooting this at 1/30. FL was 420mm.

^ ^ Hi Paul. How does it compare to the sigma 150-500? I know they are very different beasts but that sigma is one of the cheapest ways to get that sort of range. Is it any good beyond 300mm?

Scuff,

I also enjoyed your photograph. It conveys a warm, relaxed mood to me: sort of homey. That looks like good, home cooked food. ok.. now I'm hungry. ;)

Very different but for me I am trying to find a replacement for the Siggy. On my 1Dmkiii this range of lens will be pretty much married to it. I find the Bigmos to be a bit soft overall, a beast to yield and slow to focus...and not weather resistant. In the right hands I have seen it do amazing photos and I have some great ones with it that I love but I miss too many shots for my skill level with it. That and I hike on canyon walls taking pictures of petroglyphs and having that extra big lens is tough it is huge in length.

I love the size of the 70-300 it was taking me a bit to get used to the focus but that would come in time. Range was sufficient only when I was after birds did I feel I was missing the extra length but I caught some rabbits and lizards just fine at 300..... however some of the 300 shots were a bit soft. Again could be me could be getting it to sync with the 1d etc I just had it over the weekend.

Over all im not upset I have had the Bigmos for over a year and im in no rush to move off of it but I think I might try a 70-200 and or then a 400l 5.6 for the length on birds. Not a fan of the 100-400 as I see it comparable if just a bit better than the Bigmos.

here is another from this weekend
