Revisited these images from 2 & 3 years ago, about the time I began shooting RAW. Much better ... guess an old dog can learn new tricks!

Wow, very nice! Love the reflections in all the shots and especially the texture of the water in the last shot. In fact, in a lot of these shots, the water is almost as interesting to me as the subject itself.

I had shot this one a while back, where the water to me is as interesting as the duck.

Beautiful.
I used to spend my childhood summers in Georgian bay, and took it as part of life that I would see and hear loons every summer.

Alas, it's been coming up on 20 years now, and I've not seen one in that time.
Their call was like magic.

The sound of a loon in the evening is very soothing. Nothing better than sitting by the campfire while the sun sets below the horizon and hearing a loon call into the evening.

The last image with the blue ripples was at a small lake in a remote area of Yukon. There was a group of loons that stayed well away from the shoreline.
The 400mm was working to get the close-up above, which is also a serious crop.

Here's another of the same group, with the ripples on the right from one of the loons diving.
In all honesty, they were so far out I was almost shooting blind with fingers crossed!
