Just installed the new 5D3 firmware upgrade. Tried out the f/8 AF using my 400mm f/5.6 lens plus 1.4xTCIII giving 560mm @ f/8. Impressed with the IQ but I notice AF speed is slower on my 5D3 with this combination than when used on my 1DmkIV. One of my first test shots:

Beautiful picture. 1D mk IV was known for being fast. For me, the focus speed is a lot better than the forever hunting auto focus with two pins taped on the extender ;) Even manual focus worked better than that.
