Nikon is already winning that war:

I'm def. getting one... i need a nice video camera, and i already have the 40mm which is a pretty awesome lens... i might not get the kit though, might just get the body! but i hope canon releases a couple other STM lenses...

Does anyone know if the Video will focus with my L lenses? Or would the Auto Focus on video only work with the STM lenses?

continuous AF is only with STM lenses. All other lenses you'd want to AF before starting video recording.

Canon implies that you need STM lenses for continuous AF during video, but it's not true. How else do you explain these videos that clearly show continuous AF with non-STM lenses:

40mm STM vs a 50mm 1.4 USM : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIZl1ZTdlMk (external link)

50mm 1.8 II vs Sigma 30mm 1.4 vs Tokina 11-16 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgtbdwsBXE4 (external link)

85mm 1.8 USM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh3XKZD1sJM (external link)

Canon Continuous Video AF propaganda: http://www.usa.canon.com …il&docId=0901e0248057dd10 (external link)

( you have to read between the lines to see that what they are really saying is: "Non-STM lenses will be noisy and jerky so please buy our new STM for maximum user enjoyment and continued Canon profitability" ;) )

Continuous AF during HD Video Recording
For the first time in a Canon EOS DSLR, the EOS Rebel T4i includes Canon's new Movie Servo AF for recording video. When used with Canon's new EF and EF-S STM lenses, the camera can provide smooth and quiet continuous AF while recording video. This technological breakthrough enables the new EOS Rebel T4i to achieve AF while still retaining a DSLR camera's signature background blur and image quality, producing stunning videos of parties, events, summer vacations or graduations.

When shooting video with Canon's STM lenses, AF also remains silent, helping ensure you only capture the sound of the scene being recorded. The EOS Rebel T4i features a built-in stereo microphone, a first for the Rebel line, that includes an attenuator function to reduce audio distortion in extra loud situations.

I still say the Pentax K-x/K-r won the "manly cute" battle long ago. :)

I just noticed that the Canon website now includes several links to the various manuals for the new SL1, in case anyone is interested.

in fact thats likely what this color scheme is, probubly intended for the Japanese market where they have Gundam credit cards and etc...

Why isnt there a Char Aznable version :( It would shoot 3 times as fast!

Once again they leave our MA.

I would love this as a back-up camera when I do not need bulk. However, no MA = NO Purchase.

I would gladly pay extra for this function.

Same here, i was thnking of getting this and leaving in car with 40mm pancake attached for times i need to shoot when not planning to bring all the gear along.

My fast prime is a Sigma, and if the quality stays the same are better, all my future primes will be Sigma.

So with the new USB dock for Sigma lenses, the need for Micro Adjust in the body goes away.

Has anyone mounted an L prime (e.g. 50L or 85L) on this thing yet? Care to post pictures? Or any other L glass for that matter. Just curious to see how it looks with glass larger than the body, haha.
