Yep - that is a Garter (not the commonly misnamed "garden") snake. Pretty calm little snakes and great for critter balance. Nice shot!

Nice job. I really like the second shot. Did you get any with the tongue out? Snakes seem to be quite rare around my place. Luckily, we only have harmless varieties.
