Got a Hoya pro 1 digital protector.
Made zero difference to image quality.
Peace of mind for forget now £17 or £27 ??
Helps make it a bit more water dust resistant, as well. Lens cost £217 now reduced to £160 over here.

I don't use a UV or clear filter on my pancake since I don't believe that a filter adds significant water or dust protection, if any at all. A filter doesn't seal the area where moving parts of the lens meet (focus ring, barrel extending), and I think that area would be way more prone to water and/or dust infiltration than the front element itself.

No filter on the 40. No hood.

Don't put filters on Hamster lenses. If they get trashed you just get a new one.
