Senior Photo Shoot

I need some help. I like the photo using flash, but don't like the shadowing and the in some other photos the flash is casting a glare on her tights. Please help any tips or suggestion would be much appreciated. I am not good with flash
Any tips on improving this photo would be great as well, thank you so much.

She looks OOF on my monitor, possibly it's just the upload. I not sure what setup you used but you could try using the flash off camera and a reflector, or using several flashes. Some type of light modifier would also help to soften the light.

Yeah, as far as I can tell you are not using a light modifier or any sort. Even a simple umbrella setup would make the lighting 10x better.

Never use the flash on your camera.

i say go with the non-flash and put some heavy editing on it. Brighten up the subject, darken the bg, etc.

based on your website, you don't have any experience photographing people. For portraits, lighting is key. You need off camera flash, better with modifiers like a softbox/umbrella. Try to use a lens with wide aperture (2.8 or wider). Your photos right now have everything in focus which means a high aperture. It doesn't give the "pro" feel.

you shouldn't need a flash outside. Outside and cloudy is some awesome lighting with the right lens and settings

As far as the flash, the flash exposure needs to be closer to ambient for the shadow to be less noticeable. The term is fill flash, just enough to fill in the shadow areas of the subject but not be brighter than ambient. A modifier like umbrella as suggested makes the light source larger, thus softening the line between shadow and light. Also flash off camera so the reflection is not right back into the lens.
In the attached snippet, notice that the shadow of the legs to the left is blurred. A beauty dish was used to enlarge the light source. Also notice that the flash is close to ambient in intensity, in this case backlit sunlight thru trees. The sun is lighting the front of the dress and my flash lights the rest. Had I not used flash this shot would be in the recycle bin. Outside and cloudy can be great light but I disagree with silvermax above, there are many times a flash is useful outside.

You need a modifier and remove the flash from the camera. Having it off the camera creates a more pleasing look.
