You got it! Hogwarts Express at York, we took a short ride on her. Shes quite old, the seats were well worn!

I was going to come back with another loco, but I don't want the foregners amongst us to feel they are being sidelined, as UK steam locos aren't well known abroad.

So, I'll save the loco until a later time and return to the world of four wheelers with this one:

hyundai!

Thinking outside the box, I like it, but sadly Hyundai wouldn't build their first car until this one was already quite a few years old. So definitely not a Hyundai.

Getting warmer, but not an Oldsmobile either.

Ah, yes, that would make sense. I was struggling to see anything in the current car that would suggest Hyundai.

LOL.

I want to see your mystery car, so I figured I'd toss you an easy ball.

Yep, a '57 Biarritz convertible and I had to try real hard not to drool on it.

Wow! What a beauty - glad you didn't drool on it!:lol:

OK, here is my mystery car:

This one may be difficult to figure out, but then, maybe one of you will peg it. It is very rare and I can 99.99% guarantee you that none of you have seen one of these in person.
I nearly fell out of my socks when I walked into a customers garage and saw this baby parked there!
I have never seen one in person - only in photos.

I'm prepared to offer a couple more shots of parts of this car, if needed, but first lets see if you guys can come up with something.

OK sandpiper, I know you are a bunch of hours apart from me and you are likely sleeping now, and it is late for me - nearly 1AM and I'm about to head to bed.....
This car I found intrigues me a lot. It is one of the coolest cars I have ever had the pleasure of seeing, and having permission to photograph. In fact, I'd give my left one to own this car!!!:lol:

Kinda wondering how you will react to it, being in Britain and all that.
Anyhow, I'll check here before work in the morning and see if anyone has any thoughts.
It is rare and unique.

Well, I've got nothing.

That shot is so tight it unfortunately leaves me with very little information to even try and form an idea. I have had several cars shown where I didn't have a clue at first, but looking over the car has brought up some sort of a starting point for a search. Right now, I don't even know whether that is the front or the back I am looking at, whether it's a European racing car or an American luxury sedan, or a sports coupe. There is no clue as to manufacturer or even country of origin. It looks to be probably '50s or '60s but could be anything from pre war to modern.

It has a look of a design study or custom build but you write about "first time you have seen one" rather than "seen it", so I assume that at least "some" were built.

I did start searching and spent quite some time basing my search around the assumptions that it is a) American and b) that the shot is the back end and it is rear engined. However that particular alley led nowhere.

OK, fair enough - it is a tough one but I started with that because other times I have posted too big a piece and it has been guessed right away.

It is American, and that shot is from the right front corner. It is one of those things that if a person knew some of the history of the era they would know it right away.

It is a custom made for a particular event, but based from a regular production car. I'll post another pic from a different angle.

I'll widen the crop a bit and add another one:
