So Hunts finally got back to me today (dropped the camera off April 18th) about my 1D Mark II. They said that the repair facility just got back to them and had a delay in ordering my parts because they didn't have them in stock. Furthermore they said I need a new low pass filter because the shot shutter assembly damaged it. I call BS. I've read that it's possible for that to happen but I didn't see any damage in there before I sent it out. I feel like they would have also noticed that before they went and ordered parts for the camera. I forget how much more they wanted but it was up near $200 I think. I told hunts to have them just send me the camera back, I'm not having them repair it now. It's not worth the money at this point.

Haha, can't forget my horns!

I haven't really melted much but it slowly ruins my passenger side inner axle boot. I've had to replace that axle a few times now because of that. I get them at the parts store for about $60 so it's not too bad.

the funny part about this is, i've literally never seen a damaged inner boot on an FWD axle. i've been working on cars since high school...my own, my families, my friends...etc...replaced dozens of CV's over the years..inner boot is always in good shape.

its gotta be the heat breaking it down. i wonder if you can buzz a bracket up above it that will shield it...almost like they have on ATV's, except on top, instead of underneath.

It's definitely the heat but the Subaru axles do go pretty often, we sell a lot of them (of course I'm not paying OEM prices, screw that). The rear axles though are pretty solid on those cars, we hardly ever see one unless it was in a weird accident or you just make far too much power.

Oh and I can fix the whole problem by welding a longer tube onto the dump tube to bring it out under the car but I'm far too lazy now to work on my car. I was at my limit mounting new tires and putting a new wheel stud in earlier this week hahaha

i'll pay for OE parts depending on the part. for instance...no way am i buying OE spark plugs, unless of course i had something funky like a 3 valve ford engine (probably the worst engineered spark plug design of all time). ball joints, tie rod ends, i'll generally get aftermarket, but sway bar links, struts especially, although monroe makes a damn good OE spec replacement strut, and even has quick struts for my wifes car, which is a nice bonus...i have horrible luck, so i sold my spring compressors before i killed myself or someone else. lol. not all aftermarket parts are created equal, thats for certain. you can usually find reman OE CV's for less than brand new OEM as well...and often times they're better quality. lol.

200 on top of the $277 I already paid.

And yeah there are a lot of good aftermarket things out there. I generally use aftermarket on my car because cheapness but it's only burned me once and it was a turbo inlet that the stock one sucks. I cheaped out and got an eBay one for like $80bucks when generally a good one is $200+ and it didn't fit the turbo properly. That sucked. Still in the car 2 years later though, theres RTV sealing the gap between it and the turbo....

Ouch. yeah, that's some bullocks as Harm might say.

In other news... 10 minutes after my wife signs the P&S on our current place, the garbage disposal supposedly died. 5 minutes on Google and the use of a 1/4" allen wrench later and all is well (working better than it ever did, in reality).

We say "Bollocks"

Not bullocks.

Bollocks = testicles
Bullocks = castrated bovines

:rolleyes:
