The best part of photography....

A short while back I created a topic about the least liked aspects of photography.....so I figured I would post up a fun topic coming from the other side of things.
What about photograph do you like the best?....What is the most satisfying part of the whole process in your opinion? Is it getting out in the field and becoming one with nature?....working with different people?....seeing the images pop up on screen for the first time?.....editing?....​printing?.....somethin​g else?
We all have that one part (maybe more) about the process that we completely embrace....what is it for you?

.....but that just seems too easy

I enjoy providing images that other people are please with - nothing better than the people you are shooting loving the result!

Surprising people, like when someone says "wow, you can do that?"

Yeah The moment friends (or the client... whoever really!) turns round and says "these are great"!

I love hearing the comment, "When did you take that"? I love being the stealth guy in the crowd, snapping away at unsuspecting friends and family, capturing moments in time and providing those images back to them so they can cherish them forever.

I get to capture my son growing up in photos.

Seeing naked girls

Just kidding

Finding out how insects and spiders look up close, how unexpectedly complex they are in appearance and behavior. Documenting these things (i.e., doing citizen science).

Having an excuse to stay outdoors longer.

Occasionally having a photo chosen by an entomologist or nature writer for a database or publication.

Working with color, line, and shapes. Creating compositions.

Learning how to do something better--and opportunities for this abound because I started at the bottom.

Do I have to pick just one?

Best part for me is what got me started in the first place. Bought my first DSLR when my daughter was born, wanted a nice camera to capture memories of her and it turned into a hobby. She will appreciate the thousands of pics I have of her when she's older, you know the really embarrassing ones! lol

I get to capture my son growing up in photos.

This is it for me. I enjoy hearing others reactions when I feel like I really nailed something, too.

Also travel photography. I got my DSLR after my honeymoon where I felt like I got great pictures with my P&S, but realized I could get a lot better.

Well, its the tax write off of course....

I like forcing myself to go out and take pictures, sometimes to a theme, other times just to see what I get.

I love taking pictures of live bands, especially when I've never heard them before and they are still trying to break through.

In fact even If I don't get "the shot" I get a walk or a gig out of it.

The second part is looking at the raw image on my PC then making it work. I used to hate post processing ( although oddly I loved working in a darkroom ) but now I feel a bit more comfortable with it and when I compare the worked image to the plain raw file I get a great sense of satisfaction.

The third part is when people comment on your shots, or even better when they want to buy them to display in their homes. So far from my humble efforts a few friends have asked for prints to put in their houses. I've not done this at a profit, either I do the prints and they cover the costs, or I send them the image and they print and frame them.

I don't think there is a downside to this hobby for me, apart from wanting to spend money on gear and doing overtime at work to pay for it.

In all seriousness, I really like editing and nothing makes me happier then to take an image that looks OK straight from a RAW file and make it look SO much better. From flat and lifeless to something beautiful....
