I think your demand is unreasonable. Some buyers are willing to use the gift option and avoid fees altogether. Thus, listing the price with PP fee included makes the price look immediately unattractive to those buyers, who might not even bother pursuing it further.

A 10+ page thread on this very topic was just beat to death in the market place forum.

When it comes right down too it, you are breaking Paypal's terms of service by asking extra for fees.

And no it does not compare to the fact that sales tax is not included in prices at stores.

there's a real cost to do paypal transaction and I think it's reasonable to list it that way. don't see anything wrong with it. if you don't like paypal, do something else. we are all people here, you can talk to the seller/buyer.

I never said I don't like Paypal (maybe I don't) or that it doesn't render a valuable service (it does and I use it invariably), what I'm saying is that it's the seller that should include the fee into his price and not pester the buyer with calculations and add-on costs. You open the thread and see a good asking price listed, but down the page, ah!, add 3%. What a letdown!

How about $100 for Canon 24-70mm II and Paypal fee included. Shipping will be $1800.
See! I didn't ask for 3% Paypal fee.

The point is the Paypal fee is a SELLER fee, not a BUYER's fee. It is a cost of doing business to someone using their service. If you don't like the fee, then don't offer to accept it. Again, do you work for free? Do you get your prints for free? No, it is a business transaction and it is a cost of you doing business. Is that going to change how it is done on this website? No. But of the 20 or so forums I am a member of, this is the only one that even allows this to go on, as it is a direct violation of the terms and conditions that YOU AGREED TO when you signed up for paypal.

Can we all agree it is crazy when someone says they will include shipping but insurance is on the buyer? That one never made sence to me.

point taken. by the way, when I sell, I don't do "add 3%" thing. I do it other way.. give discount for people who will save me money. I just assume it will be paypal. it doesn't bother me as a buyer though..

yes.. that's crazy. insurance is to protect the seller(as far as I understand). it's backwards. if you ask buyer to pay for it.

It is also against Paypal's rules to ask for the fee.

It's also against the rules of all the credit card companies to charge a fee for accepting credit card payment, but PayPal ignores them and charges the fee anyway.

Paypal doesn't charge you a fee to pay them with a credit card, they charge you a fee to use their service, there is a difference.

PayPal charges fees for credit card transactions but not for cash (balance transfers) so how exactly is it different?

Paypal charges fees for any transaction that is a purchase, I'm sure if Paypal was violating user agreements with credit card companies they would be sued. They would be a pretty big target don't you think?
