Hi,

Today I kayaked a local pond trying to get bugs in flight pictures. In this first one I couldn't get close enough to get good detail of the cream colored bug. Also the background was drawing attention away from my subject.

QUOTED IMAGE

This is a multiple bugs in flight shot. The back ground guy is working harder to grab attention by pretending to be an amphibious air plane.

Here the background guy goes into shaking mode. Fix them feathers/shake off them bugs.

Beautiful shots Jack.

Ok I'm sold on this lens, I love the IQ and color from it, as good as the 70-200 f/4 IS! Having the 300mm range is great, these shots were taken from the upper deck at AT&T park, some with a little cropping.

i'm off to Orlando & Tampa in a few days time! ..doing Seaworld Busch Gardens, etc. and as much of everything else i can fit in
i'm very tempted to take JUST my 5D3 + 70-300L ...i also have a 24-105 and a fifty 1.8 but i realy think this Body & lens combo (5D3 + 70-300) will do me just fine!

any one else think this is a bad move or should i take my 2 other lenses as well?

when i'm out shooting people,street,.. buildings etc' i find it hard to use anything else due to the fact its so versitile and compact ... glad i chose the 70-300L over the 70-200 2.8 mk2 saved on a bundle of cash and its size and weight are so much easier when out and about

I would take the 24-105 along as well just in case there is an area you visit where a wide angle shot would be nice - butI would probably end up keeping the 70-300 on the camera most of the time anyway, I like to know I at least have a wider option.

Loved using this lens at the track. I would love to have one in my bag, but I cant justify paying full price for this lens. While great build and optics, still variable aperture L glass for $1400.

5D2 + 70-300L
