From there, adjust opacity to just make the sand appear darker (not black obviously). After that, play around with bevel/emboss on the writing layer and see what happens. I wish I had a photo of plain sand to try it out on but I don't......if you could post up the photo you're trying to edit, maybe some of us could try out some ideas to help you along.

Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D

May 21, 2013 12:54 | #6 Find two different stock images of sand, one smooth, one lumpy texture. Mod them to match color, overlay them, then mask out the text and clip the smooth one so the lumpy one underneath shows through. Experiment with different brushes and or shadow layer blend to make it look right. Gear List
