I've just received my Rokinon copy of this lens. A lot of people have reported that the distance scale is off and the lens will focus way past infinity - but my copy seems to have the opposite: it won't focus to infinity.
I need to do some more checking, but using 10x live view on a 1Diii, when wide open and focussing on a distant target it seems that the focus ring reaches the end of its travel before focus is achieved.
Has anyone else had a copy that does this? I've searched the thread but haven't found any other reports...

Hi everyone,

I always shot in f/5.6 with my Sammy 14mm. Recently, after getting an AF chip for this lens, i started trying f/4.0 and f/2.8, and I noticed a decrease in image sharpness as the lens opens up.

5.6 to 4.0 is not as noticeable as 4.0 to 2.8

do you all notice this with your lenses? Or do I need to send my lens in to get calibrated?

Cameras: 5D III x2, 6D x2

i think your lens might have problems... your lens should be able to achieve focus with distant objects using LV in max zoom mode, i know my lens does.

Macky, this isn't just true with the Samyang, but is true with pretty much every lens ever made--they are sharper when stopped down a ways. This lens is unusually sharp wide open, but is sharpest at F5.6

Bhphoto is nice enough to warn people about this and possible delays. Adorama on the other hand kept it secret ......

Ummmm... it was on our website, Twitter and Facebook

Excellent photograph. Did you use any nd filter? I've been looking for a nd filter and holder solution but i couldn't find a product.

Nice shot Mooka^^ Great timing with the biker.
I haven't used this lens in over a year. Today I was reminded how much I missed it.

These are great sample shots! I'd like to know if you made a custom lens profile to fix the distortion on this lens, or if you did it manually.

Actually it wasn't on your website, I checked about 20 times, everywhere! I noticed the notices on BH's site right away which is why I went to Adorama to check and nope, nothing was posted, I have screencaps to prove it.

I don't go and check Twitter or Facebook when I purchase from a store.

Also, so far it's been over 1 week and all my item says is "Packed", and nobody at Adorama customer service can figure out where my lens is or why it doesn't say "shipped". I was even told I would get a call back within 15 minutes with more information from the shipping dept, that was 3 hours ago, I eventually had to call back myself and to my surprise, no more info was available. I have to call my cc company about this run around, the worst customer service I've ever received shopping online!

I don't like to disagree with a customer, but the holiday closure was indeed on the website, I actually copied the wording to use when I tweeted myself about the holiday; it wasn't, however, on every page like B&H was.

If you email me your order number: Helen@adorama.com (external link) I will do my best to track down your order - although, the most likely explanation is that UPS failed to scan it at the hub.

^Unless it was a popup that most browsers disallow, I can guarantee there was no warning of store closures on the site. I even had a buddy check for me on Wed/Thursday.
Thanks for the help Helen. Maybe you can help turn this nightmare shopping experience with Adorama into a good experience. I appreciate it. I really needed the lens for this past weekend, and now desperately need it for a big show this weekend coming up (2 weeks should have been plenty of time to ship).

Sorry to veer off topic, it's been now week since I ordered my lens, maybe I will have it within 2 weeks so I can post some pics!

I can't get a screenshot, but a Google Search for the phrase:

Adorama Retail Store will close for Shavuot Holiday

shows that it was on the site:

The Adorama NYC Retail Store will be closed for Shavuot Holiday from Tuesday May 14, 2013 at 5:00pm and will reopen on Friday May 17, at 9:00 am ...
