Hello Everyone, I have honestly spent many upon many hours doing internet research and I have one question that I cannot find a clear answer for, and to be honest I am exhausted.

If I get my first studio strobe and purchase an einstein from PCB to compliment my existing speedlights (YONGNUO YN-568EX), is there a way I can trigger all of them with a newly purchased Canon 5d Mark III?

I know Yongnuo has the YN-622C Wireless triggers but is it possible to hook those up to an einstein somehow?

Or could I get something from the PCB website that compliments the einstein better but still allow me to wirelessly trigger my speedlights?

My main goal is to get something long term that will provide me years of hassle-less flash firing, that isn't too dependant on line of sight firing only.

Lastly, I was use to the 7d where I could control the speedlights directly from the camera menu via line of sight flash firing, does anyone know of a way to continue using such a great feature in the 5d mark III with the new wireless suggestions you may recommend above.

I guess I would like to control all of the lights from one source, so if you know a way, please let me know.

I know these are some pretty big questions, but I think many people would benefit from knowing.

Thanks a million, and if you have any suggestions, I will surely pay it forward ten times over.

Thanks.

Yes you can use your existing triggers to fire the einstein you will just need to purchase a PC Sync Cable RF-603 6.35mm. You always could optically trigger the einstein also.

The way I do it:

YN-622 on camera to control my two speedlites off camera (both connected to a separate YN-622). CST transmitter connected to the YN-622 that's on the camera to trigger the CSXCV connected to the Einstein. CyberCommander on a lanyard around my neck to control the Einstein.

Alternatively, you can skip the CST and use the CyberCommander as a transmitter but the CyberCommander is so big and bulky that I don't like to (especially if I'm already using a 622 on the camera).

This way I have ETTL and remote manual control of my speedlites via the YN-622 system and remote manual control of the Einstein.

The alternative is to sell your YN-568s for Canon flashes that are compatible with PocketWizard's AC3 controller as that will remotely control certain Canon flashes as well as Einsteins (with the MC2). Note that this is an expensive an expensive route not without some issues that you should be aware of.

That is actually a pretty cool option to control both speedlites and the Einsteins. Whether you use the extra CST transmitter or not.

Thank you so much guys.

I just looked up some videos on the cyber commander and it looks fantastic.

The built in light meter seems like the perfect tool integrated into that unit.

I can see how having it mounted to your camera might make it slightly more troublesome to take on and off the hot shoe to use for metering.

This review/tutorial I found really puts this units functions in to practical perspective.

Thanks.

I have a Canon sx160 is camera. No R/C, no hot shoe. GREAT ability to take good extreme closeups of very small things. I am considering as my first speedlight the YN560 iii. Budget driven, $100 HARD limit. Was looking at the Neewer offering, too. Indoor photography of machinery, machining in progress, and SMALL parts. Have been using static incandescent lights. Not really satisfactory.

Opinions?

Kudos to those making those Youtube courses. I'm very new to good photography, and these are teaching me so much.
