I have 2 580MKII and a 430MKII rarely if ever use the 430 as the 2 580s pretty much cover everything I need.

scoop up a Yongnuo 560ii while you wait! why not get an early start for very little money, and a VERY VERY VERY good flash (as long as you don't need ttl).

I love the one I bought, and (don't tell anyone) would've spent more on it if the price wasn't as excellent as it is!

Kei

May just have to look into that as the 580ex ii is still abit out of my price range!

1 x YN560II
1 x 580ex II

Considering perhaps another YN560II - excellent flash for the money if you don't shoot ttl which I never do.

(2) 580ex IIs
(1) 420ex
(2) yn462's . . . broken
(4) yn460 ii's . . . not quite yet broken

Spent all my recent capital but getting some vivitar 285s as soon as the YN's start dying (more than they have)

yn460 seems to be a disaster! You are not alone in this. See Amazon.com reviews. Would not consider.

I am considering a yn560 iii. Good reviews. My first speedlight. Not deep pockets. Camera is Canon sx160 is. NO hot shoe. NO R/C. Was looking at the Neewer offering, too. Would be used primarily indoors for photography of machinery, machining in progress, and VERY small parts. $100 is about as far as I can go, unless I win the Lotto (grin).

Opinion?

Email or message is good, too.

Just a polite note in re: this thread to remember to use LD batteries if you work your speedlites for longer studio shoots. The external battery packs help with flash recycle time too, but the main thing is about the batteries in the flash itself. With frequent operation of the flash, conventional alkaline batteries can become extremely hot -- this condition ruined one of my old 580-EX (not Mk II) units at a shoot. Now, with LD batteries like Sanyo Eneloops, all is well for all-day studio applications of the speedlites.
