A brief update...

I received my new Rebel SL1 yesterday from B&H. I got the kit that included the new 18-55 STM lens, and the new center-pinch lens cap was included (58mm).

I also got a new Canon 55-250 IS lens from Amazon, and it also had the new 58mm center-pinch cap.

So, it appears that with new stock at least, Canon is including these new caps!

That's great news, maybe on my next clean and check ill send my gear in capless and see if they will do me a solid :)

I'm so waiting for the 72mm, 77mm and 82mm to become available to purchase in the UK. I'll be over them like a shot!

Yeah they do. I got mine last week. Try google E-82 II and see if anyone near you has them.

Same here.
I got a Tamron one a few weeks ago and it keeps falling off, very tricky to get on securely with the hood on. Come to think of it so did the one i had with my Tamron 24-70 before.
Thanks to those images Mike posted i can see why now.

all my lenses are worth it.

That cap cost almost as much as that lens... ;)

I use the Canon caps too... no contest... now if they'd just get some 77mm's out the door...

WEX has the 77mm Canon caps in, I've just picked up two for my 24-70L and 70-200 II L. Both fit well. They are a lot bigger and chunkier than the old caps. But they seem to fit securely, certainly better than other centre pinch caps I've tried previously.

I'll just have to wait patiently for the 82mm and 72mm thread versions.

I just received my Canon 77mm caps. They are fantastic, and well worth the increased cost over cheap knock-offs.

Yes, unfortunately my 24-70 is the mkII so I need the only size that doesn't seem available yet.

There's one laying somewhere on one of the walking tracks at the 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road.

I've never lost a lens cap before, now I have actually paid for one I lose it in a matter of weeks!
