Challenge #433 - Retro
This weeks challenge is about something "Retro"
So what I am looking for is anything that is "new today" but meant to be retro, or designed or made to copy something from a time way in the past.
For example, some of us may have been around since the 50's or thereabouts. (like me!)
Something retro is typically referred to as an item or style or thing that used to be popular many years ago but was phased out, or went out of style is more like it, but then many years later, the same thing was introduced as brand new and the latest greatest style, design or fashion.
Anybody remember bell bottom pants? Paisley garments? Home fixtures and decorations from many decades ago that were so ugly you were glad they faded away, only to find the same thing available NEW in the stores today?
So show me something new and available today that makes me say " Oh man I remember those from the 70's!! Or 60"s Or 80's Or?
I am out camping at a lake way up in the mountains in British Columbia and drove a little ways to find a cell signal so I can do this so here goes:
Maureen - Milk Mans Ride;
Wow Maureen, what an awesome shot! I love this one! Your lighting is excellent as is your subject. I like the table of dairy products too.
Very nicely done!
Car - Reverse Retro - Old castle with new facelift;
Well that certainly is a nifty looking old castle. Could have been done by John Lennos crew themselves! Lol.
Interesting angle on the topic!
Marie - theres gold in them ther frills;
Wow! nice colorful dresses, looks like they were modernizing a style from many years ago. Looks like something you would find in Jamaica or a place like that. Was the wind blowing them out like that or did they have them propped up? Nice shot Marie.
sttrory - Retro Shooping;
I like this one!It looks like something yoou woould find from the 1930's or so. A very pleasing look for shopping indeed.Nothing modern about that one!
Well done, nice work!
Northants Nin - As Paul Smith sees it!
Haha!! This one has me laughing - What a wild paint job on an old mini. This is great! I used to have 4 or 5 minis at any one given time about 30 years ago. In fact I had a whole backyard full of cars, mostly British Leyland. Cool picture!
CMOats - My favorite 'retro';
Ahhh the old Mustangs - nothing like an old car to make a car buff like me smile. I remember when cars like that were new, sitting on the dealers lot. Nice one!
Raven - Soda fountain clock and rubber chicken repros;
This is an excellent shot, keeping perfectly within the retro theme. Really good lighting and exposure to illustrate something that could easily be right out of the 50's!
Super work - this ones a contender for sure.
Linda - My Brand New Clutch Bag Made From An Original Vinyl Album...;
What a neat idea! I bet that turns heads when you set it down! I still have Leo Sayers Endless ZFlight LP at home. (I think thats what it was called....) Another great interpretation of the theme. That must have been hard to get the exposure right with the black vinyl.
Nice work Linda!
teisco, too bad you were just a bit past the cutoff time. Thanks for entering and posting your ultra cool picture. Please! Keep trying and DO enter in more of these contests. We love to have any and all new entrants.
Thanks everyone for the great entries into this weeks challenge.
My laptop battery is going flat fast so I better hurry with the choices!
#1 - Maureen
#2 - Raven
#3 - Linda
