Just bought used 1D mark ii body from keh. Body has only 52000 clicks. First time out with it 90 shots later and this. Camera appears in excellent condition as I bought E+. The faster the shutter speed the more prominent it gets. I think this might be called shutter bounce? Under 1/100th its bareley noticeable or may not even show up but anything faster then that, forget it. I would rather have shutter fixed if that's what it is considering camera is in great shape. Its Sunday so no response till tomorrow from them. the overexposed streak is in everyone one of them now. Only had a week. Apparently they have a 6 month warranty on used gear?

Was this taken in portrait or landscape orientation?

That certainly looks like it, especially if this is a crop of a larger image.

The oversexposed streak appears in both orientations and the images are resized but not cropped.

it's broken - there will be a shutter leaf hanging on by only one rivit (instead of two) and so it flails around. You can probably see it broken if you take the lens off & either carefully lift the mirror, or enable mirror lock-up & trigger it.

Best see if keh will either fix it, or refund...

Yes, it does look like the shutter is failing.

Since you say you have a 6 month warranty I would contact Keh about getting it fixed. You might inquire who they send their repairs to, not too many outside repair facilities are equipped to work on the Canon pro bodies, matter of fact most of them won't even touch them. If you have the option I would suggest you request that it be sent directly to Canon.

Look on the bright side. You've brought a new word to POTN.

If you check out the link on my previous post, there are similar images showing shutter failure, including an image of the shutter itself.

If left to me I would rather have it fixed cause she would be good for a long time, however reading their fine print it states that they can replace the product at their discretion. I'll see what they say tomorrow.

No, that's beyond failing.
That has FAILED.

Been in contact with KEH and they offered to return the camera for refund or repair. I chose repair cause this way I know the shutter will be good for a while. But does KEH do the repairs themselves? I heard that canon does not support the 1D MKii anymore for shutter repair so wondering who does it for them or do their techs do it themselves. From what I gather its a very intense process.

Not sure if KEH does it themselves, but they are a tops when it comes to customer service in my book.

I second that. I bought a 400 2.8 MKII non is that was a Beat beauty, but they said it was in working condition. On arrival it failed to focus at all, they accepted all shipping charges back, fixed it, and shipped it back to me asap. Great people. Would highly recommend them and the repair services.
