When you upgraded from 5D2 to 5D3, did you notice a jump in keeper rate and higher in focus shots with prime lens like 35 1.4, 50 1.2, 85 1.2, and 24 1.4, etc?

Short answer.

Yes.

The outer focus tends to lock on better in low lighting as well. Keeper rate definitely went up when I upgraded to the 5D3 from my old 5D2.

Yes, I saw a definite difference, especially with the 85 1.8 and 135L2.0

Same here.

Difference is night and day tbh when I upgraded from mk2 to mk3 especially when using any outer point.

Absolutely! My 50L in particular now results in more keepers with my 5D3 than with the 5D2.

How would you compare the keeper rate with 50L between 5D3 and 1D4? Is the 5D3 AF better?

Of my fast primes it was the 24L & 50L that could be a bit hit and miss on the 1D4 and even worse on the 5D2, but they are more reliable on the 5D3. All my other lenses work great on my 1D4 including the 85L.

Yes huge help with the 85L. I had resorted to manual focus with the 85L on the MK II but now I can go back to being lazy with the MK III lol

It's like having a new upgrade of all your lenses. Everything works better.
