Yes I assume he would be. :)

Question - what prompted the 7D?

Good spot

I have found going FF with the 70-300L a bit hard like hard work missing the reach what's it like going FF to crop?

I have to agree about loosing the reach. I have decided that my next purchase will be either a 7D or 7D II (if I have enough patience. :)
I could have gotten a much nicer pic with a 1.6 in this situation. Still love full frame so would not give up my 5D III either.

Hi,

On Sunday I took pictures at the Vermont City Marathon. It was a change for me as the previous two years I ran it. But after two marathons last year, I decided that from here on in its best to limit myself to not more than one 26.2 mile race per year. There still was family involvement as one of my daughters was part of a two woman masters relay team (each ran a half marathon). My other daughter ran the entire marathon.

Here the police are leading the two front runners (Chris Zablocki and Matt Pelletier) up Battery Hill at about 15 miles into the race.

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Sports/2013-Vermont-City-Marathon/i-cMX9t3L/0/XL/IMG_5633-XL.jpg

Conditions were tough with temperatures in the low forties, rain, and North West winds of 20 miles per hour. About 11 miles out of 26.2 went directly into the 20 mile per hour head wind.

You can see the rain in this picture as Chris and Matt are racing up toward Battery Park.

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Sports/2013-Vermont-City-Marathon/i-GwxZt2w/0/XL/IMG_5640-XL.jpg

Here we have the woman's race winner (Heidi Westover) working her way up Battery Hill. Heidi went on the finish in 2:42:02. Heidi who has run around 2 hrs 35 minutes hoped to break her previous record on the course but again the conditions were problematic.

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Sports/2013-Vermont-City-Marathon/i-D8xs7r8/0/XL/IMG_5648-XL.jpg

Late in the race Chris pulled a head of Matt. Here he is working his butt off close to the finish.

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Sports/2013-Vermont-City-Marathon/i-HfxK2bJ/0/XL/IMG_5693-XL.jpg

Chris finished in a time of 2:18:24 which is the third fastest time of the race. Here Matt is also giving great effort to finish in 2:19:02. Matt was last years winner of this race who was in great shape but not as well suited to running into a stiff cold wind.

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Sports/2013-Vermont-City-Marathon/i-X2ckqhx/0/XL/IMG_5711-XL.jpg

Now for family stuff! First my serene looking daughter Karen (3817) finishing as the third woman's masters runner in 3 hours and 12 minutes. The non white background on the bib of the woman behind her indicates that she is a relay runner.

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Sports/2013-Vermont-City-Marathon/i-Jt6CF2h/1/XL/IMG_5754-XL.jpg

Now for my younger daughter Ellen who was part of a two woman relay team. Her team (Masters of training) placed third in the two woman masters relay. Both Ellen and her friend had nice runs.

A few of the locals...I never realised we had so much exotic fauna...I'm quite enjoying taking pics of birds.

Still learning though...exposure's way off in some of them (over and under) and I'm struggling with tracking BIF shots...I might have to cheat and turn on all the AF points!

Thank-you! ~ the cranes are about 10km north of Paris Ontario.
Within one minute of each other are also blue-birds and an osprey nest

it was nice getting it with dew but the trick was getting a darkish object in the background to accentuate it... thanks!
