Hi all,

Question about the new style plate that comes with the Herringbone. I understand this new plate is compatible with Manfrotto and Arca Swiss tripod heads; however, I'm curious to know if it the screw at the bottom includes tripod mount threading as well. I would like to have the option to use other accessories that would mount on the bottom screw hole. Thanks for your help.

I looked at that screw and I do see threads on it, just not sure what size it is to determine what would fit, I assume it would be the standard sized threading that all these accessories use.

I really like my Herringbone, but the strap really does stretch out. I thought was coming loose, but it is just stretching.

Can someone measure theirs when they first get it, I am curious how much mine has stretched out.

Thanks for your reply Raistlin. I ordered mine a few days ago and should have it tomorrow.

As they have said, it is threaded. It's awesome because I can use my blackrapid system without having to remove the plate. The little nub just screws right into the bottom of the plate.

I just measured, mine is exactly 22" long ;), only used it once for a day on my camera, so it's like new for reference. Might give it another try or put it up for sale.

Thanks, next time I take mine off I am going to measure it, i swear it has stretched a couple of inches.

This thread has been going on forever so I will contribute my thoughts.

I didn't want to spend the money for the Herringbone so I bought a Chinese knock-off and then an OEM Canon strap. I finally bit the bullet and reverted to the Herringbone and I couldn't be happier...

duane,

I wanted to thank you for your indirect help. I noted your concerns about the Herringbone stretching and installed mine a bit tighter than it needed to be. In just a few uses, it stretched out to perfect fit.

Mihn,

There are a few options for ordering, most of them on eBay. I ordered mine from imkstore there. I had to wait about 3 weeks for delivery. There is a US based company, shipping out of CA rather than South Korea that might be viable. They are fairly new... however, I did use their video that shows how to attach the strap. ;)

They have more sales now than they did when I ordered, so I would probably order from them today.

PS: Type one is for use on a camera without a grip and comes with a plate. Type two is for cameras using a battery grip and does not include the plate because the battery grip has a connection point.

I bought mine a while back on ebay and was shipped from S. Korea as well, but only took me about 2-3 days. But yes, I did have to pay extra few bucks for expedited shipping.

These straps feel much nicer than the Canon E-1 straps and yes they do stretch out a bit after a while. I also really like the elegant look of Herringbone vs the vinyl look of E-1. :)

joonrhee,

The ebay store from which I ordered did offer expedited shipping but I've never been able to figure out how to put it in. I'm not that bright. ;)

Hence the 3 week wait.
