So, I shot a wedding on Saturday, with my new 568ex and 622c's...all is going great until we get to the reception. I'm unpacking my gear...setting up one strobe and the 568ex and had my 7D on the DJ table, when an older lady knock into the table sending my 7D to the floor, which seemed okay (hit on the bottom) which he battery door came off and at first notice, was no big deal. However, when I tried to snap it back it didn't work and the little black (arm) piece was crack...I was FREAKING out, my back-up is a 20d...so i some tape in the bag and taped it together...all seems to be okay now, didn't lose any shots, but now I need to send it to Canon to get it fixed, which I'm sure is going to cost around $100, so my question is should I just buy a grip and not worry about it? or spend the $100 and have piece of mind?

Get it repaired. I have a 7D and a grip, and although having a grip is nice at times, at other times it's not really helpful. In particular, when I'm doing nature photography with a 100-400L, the extra weight of the grip is a nuisance.

Gripped 7D | 24-70 f/2.8L II | 70-200 f/2.8L II | 100-400L | 17-55 f/2.8 | lots of misc stuff
