Hi all,

Here's a couple of my recent images, showing two very different uses of this great little lens. The first is a standard macro shot of a blue damselfly. Exposure was 1/250 sec at f/14 and 400 iso, with lighting provided by a 430 Ex II speedlight set on manual and 1/8th power.

IMAGE: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8521/8452219018_39874b6e52_o.jpg

The second is an astronomical image, showing Comet Lemmon passing the Small Magellanic Cloud (a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way) and the globular star cluster 47 Tucanae (a tight cluster containing hundreds of thousands of stars, visible below the Small Magellanic Cloud in the right hand side of the image). Comet Lemmon is visible with naked eyes from dark skies, and has been putting on a great show for those of us in the southern hemisphere. The comet had a 5 degree long tail when I took this image. This image was taken using just a tripod-mounted camera (as I don't have a mount that will track the movement of the stars). I took 20 x 20sec exposures at f/2.8 and 3200 iso, and then stacked these together using the free software DeepSkyStacker.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

This lens has some unique colors. Very different from Canon's. Maybe a little cooler.
