Some awesome photographers here. So many photos are simply stunning!

Forgot to say how much I liked this one... say cheese!

holy crap - great shots and lucky you having such diverse... species I've never seen before!

Thanks Immaculens, it's certainly been interesting interesting of late...My initial thoughts a few years ago was that there wasn't much variety around but if I'd only looked properly!

I'm struggling a bit with this lens at the moment...trying to get really sharp shots in focus. Some of that is due to my camera being way smarter than me and some due to my subjects being way faster than me. Some is down to stupidity (trying to frame things too tightly) but some appears to be due to back/front focusing which is a bit of a shame:(

I ran Focal and ended up with a consistent +4 on the long end and -1 on the short end.

I'm not 100% convinced though, I can still manage to get OOF shots when I think I've nailed it.

Anyway, here's some recent random shots.

Black swan (looks like he's had a heavy night on the town!)

Hi,

On Monday I was on NH's Lake Winnipesauke in my little yellow 12 ft kayak when I saw this amphibian flying by.

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Nature/Big-Lake-Eagle-and-Art/i-ngt3DRv/0/XL/IMG_6190-2-XL.jpg

It flew north for a few minutes then turned, touched down, and started skimming in my direction like a super bass boat.

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Nature/Big-Lake-Eagle-and-Art/i-V9cbS8w/2/XL/IMG_6197-2-XL.jpg

It then made a turn that made me think I might be photographing my demise.

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Nature/Big-Lake-Eagle-and-Art/i-pJcZssQ/1/XL/IMG_6203-2-XL.jpg

Soon it made a correction and I felt better!

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Nature/Big-Lake-Eagle-and-Art/i-VXJMhPf/0/XL/IMG_6208-2-XL.jpg

At this point I felt great!

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Nature/Big-Lake-Eagle-and-Art/i-Wrf7nWN/0/XL/IMG_6214-2-XL.jpg

I would have liked to see the buzzer's face but there is too much glare!

IMAGE: http://jack-dorsey.smugmug.com/Nature/Big-Lake-Eagle-and-Art/i-qVR7Nvt/0/XL/IMG_6215-XL.jpg

I'm sure that looking through the lens at 300 on my crop added to the perception of closeness that I felt (kind of like being in the passenger seat of a car going down the road and looking through a pair of binoculars) but it was exciting.

Thanks Will.

They are quite plentiful in most parks around the lake perimeter.

Gary they are awsome where did you take them?

I have been tempted to go to the Mach loop but it is so far, but a sick day might be looming.

That photo is just great! I like how the bird's reflection fades into the water/sun's flare like that.

Awed as I am by the excellent pictures that have been posted in this thread since my last contribution, here's a few photos of my own, featuring a white-throated sparrow, a couple mourning doves, as well as a northern cardinal

One of those (the sparrow) I've already posted before, but have re-post-processed it since.

Congrats Gary. It will not disappoint as the plane shots show.

I too would like to know how you got this angle.
