One caution, most fields now have a backpack rule with the maximum being 16 x 16 x 8 inches.

I'll be taking my retrospective 30. I think that should be ok?

The 200 2.8 L prime is clutch at big sporting venues. It is black, about the same size as a 135L, real sharp and relatively cheap.

Yes, I think that would've been perfect. But I have to settle with either 1.4x or 2x on the 135. I just hope I don't get hassled at the gate.

Good luck and have fun! We miss the Dodgers here in Vero Beach!

I've taken a 300/2.8 to AT&T park before, you should be fine

I went to a Dodger game about a month ago. I took my 7D and a sigma 17-70. I carried it over my shoulder. No one at the gate asked to see the camera. I wanted to take my 70-200f/4 but was afraid I would be turned away. I don't remember seeing anybody with a white lens. I did see a lot of people with their DSLR. Their rule states no lens over 6" in length. I will be going to another game in a month when they give out the Vin Scully bobble head. I might attempt to take it in but will leave the lens hood in the car.

As for the bag, you should be okay. We took a school size backpack and didn't get denied entry.

Backpacks and bags/purses larger than 16x16x8 are not allowed in the ballpark. Parents are advised to bring their baby supplies in a diaper bag smaller than these dimensions.

From tonight's game, I've learned that they are not as strict as I thought. I guess it depends on who is guarding the gate. Very good night for a Dodger fan. :)

What equipment did you end up taking with you to the game?

I ended up taking 15FE, 24LII, 135L, 1.4xII, and 2xII. All loaded in Think Tank Speed Racer V2. I was not hassled at all and our seats were just decent to take decent shots. For pictures from this night, please feel free to visit below link.

Cool! I always sit around the area where your took the day photos.

I'm too scared to take my 70-200 f/4.:( :D

I shoot rugby at ANZ Stadium, which has a no telescopic lens policy. The 200mm II 2.8 is pretty compact and I can get away with it if I hide it in the bottom of my bag, they search bags but they don't start pulling every out. There is no chance of bringing in anything bigger than the 200mm 2.8.
Also apparently the Dodgers will be touring Sydney next year, against the Diamondbacks in the Sydney Cricket Ground. I shall certainly try and catch this rare event.

I guess no one tried the 70-200 f/2.8 this season... I remember Angeles was very strict on the camera lens. I got turn back on my 70-200 f/2.8...

I took my 70-200 II 2.8 IS to the game on 9/11. I was turned down initially. I went to another entrance and had no issues. Here is a shot. I took so many that night! :)

Be aware that earlier this year the NFL implemented new rules and you can no longer carry in most types of camera bags.

I'm going to the game tomorrow, but I'm a Giants fan. I sold most of my zooms and only have a 400mm which is out of the question. Going to try with a 24-105.
