I have everything I need except the iPad mount, but I am wondering if I took this mount to my tripod, used the connector/cable and shot in RAW/jpg, would I get an instant review of each shot or can I shoot while my camera is hooked up to the iPad?

If you Camera uses an SD card why not use an eyefi SD card, shoot and have the images drop right onto your ipad, no need to remove the card and off load them on to the ipad.

I did not know these exist. How fast are they as far as saving image to memory? I guess it doesn't matter since if you are using it, you are not taking rapid fire images. I guess you still have to shoot in RAW/jpeg

Can't add anything constructive about shooting direct to ipad, 'cos I've never tried it.

However, just a FYI about the ipad mount, as you haven't got one yet, and the mount you pictured looks a bit flimsy to me.

Many musicians have switched to using ipads instead of sheet music, so there's now quite a range of sturdy ipad mounts that clamp to all sorts of stuff - mic stands in particular. So it might be worth checking out musicians stores.

I personally use the original iKlip from IK Multimedia with an ipad 2 clamped to a mic stand, and it works very well - I've also used it for shooting video with the iKlip clamped to a lighting stand. If you want to grab the ipad for a closer look at something, it just slides out of the mount.

The original iKlip has now been replaced with the iKlip2

There are several other similar mounts from other manufacturers, and I have no connection with IK other than satisfied user.

I went today and bought the Eye Fi Mobi 8GB class 10 HD card ($50 at Bestbuy). It took two minutes to set up on my iphone/ipad, and boom, I take a picture and it is on my phone in about 5 secs. I do have to shoot in RAW/jpeg

I shoot with a Eye-Fi card in an adapter with my 5DmkII. I send the small jpegs to the iPad while I'm shooting.

OP, I have one of those card readers that you have pictured for the ipad. They are finicky as hell. Like one small movement and the pins lose connections and your transfer fails. Plus I don't think you can shoot tethered to it.

I'd go the Eye-Fi route if you need/want to send images to the ipad while shooting.

I'm a big fan of the eyefi-to-ipad stuff
liked it in the 5D2, but so much better in a dual-card body like the 5D3

Does the iPad/tablet need to be connected to a WiFi/cellular network to transfer images from the card to the iPad/tablet?

Nope. The Eye-Fi card creates it's own wireless network and your iPad connects to it to receive the images.

I know eyefi has been around for years. Is mobi product new? I've never heard of mobi either. All articles I found regarding eyefi mobi were published in June 2013 so this must be new stuff.

I don't have 7D body. Does it take an SD card? Eyefi cards are SD cards.

And Transcend wifi cards (external link) which looks to be faster larger and cheaper. I might have to pick one up to add to my bag.
