If you're a macro shooter, the G15 will offer up much better close ups of tiny things like bugs or small coins, stamps, etc. If not, the G1X has a much larger D-SLR sized sensor which can give you higher ISO shooting capability and decently clean pixels to work with in post that can be pushed lighter and cleaner, if needed. But for macro use, you'd need to invest in a close up lens adapter and mounting ring adapter to fit it to the end of the lens.

If you know what you'll be shooting, it can make the decision easy.

Cheers!

A couple of shots from the downton Eastside area in Vancouver.
One shot from the window of the car as my wife was driving, and the other taken quickly as we walked along to go shopping in one of the only remaining stores worth visiting in the area.
This is not a tourist place where you want to be seen pointing a camera at people too much. Chinatown which is adjacent is okay though.

I'm still getting used to the camera. I think I'll like it, but I suspect it will really annoy me from time to time. We'll see...

Well, the first picture you took was near the Chinatown gate. It's not bad over there. IIRC, that's Pender Street and I've been to that area like a hundred million times in my life. You want bad? Just head down to the Army & Navy store area of Hastings. It's a dump over there.

Maybe try reading what I wrote.
I clearly said Chinatown is okay...The store we went to was the Army and Navy store, and the Hotel Pennsylvania is very close to it, you know, the one I took a picture of?;)
If you know the area so well, you could have figured that out?
I've lived in Vancouver for decades, and know the downtown Eastside very well. I used to go to San Francisco Pawnbrokers and BC Collateral to buy guitars all the time, at least when San Francisco was there.
I am not a tourist.
The picture of the girl was a random shot of someone I thought was very interesting looking, and so I took the picture. She in no way represents the residents of the area, and that is in no way denigrating anyone unfortunate enough to end up there. I also realise some people live there by choice too!
Here's a couple more nearer the Army and Navy store - a second hand shop and Pidgeon Park.
