Cool thread.

Here are some of my motorbike shots.

Nice, I like the Ducati and S1000RR shots -- sweet. I love the R1 shot!

...

I went out and did an experimental type thing the other day --

Playing around with flash gels during sunset for some wild colors. Hope you guys like this set! This is out near the ocean in Boca Raton, Florida, at a favorite lookout area of mine.

I've also experimented with my Red 25 filter - it's literally a red filter. It's original use was intended for black and white film photography to increase contrast, but since I have one and a lens on which it fits, I of course have to experiment something with it! The really, really red photos at the end are with the Red 25 filter.

I like the way the purple sunlit cloud was emerging from beyond the tank/bars of the bike. This shot used an orange flash gel to light the Diavel and brick pavers in the foreground.

This is an experimental shot using a purple flash gel - the sky and clouds were actually purple as well, hence my thought to use a purple gel.

Another experimental shot with flash gels, slightly altered in PP ( the actual gel was purple but I liked the blue better in this shot)

Here's another set I shot the other evening.

It's in Coral Gables, Florida, just south of Miami. The road is called Old Cutler Road, and curves and winds near the ocean lined with beautiful trees on both sides.

The trees form arches of branches making a seemingly never-ending archway of trees. It's a really great location.

I was super-excited about the first shot below, "Beauty and the Beast".

Setup was the 6D on a tripod with TS-E 17/f4L mounted. The shot is slightly tilted to get the whole bike in focus (due to the angle, without tilt, the front part of the bike would have been OOF). Used on-camera flash (580EXII) because my (borrowed) radio triggers suck and don't work with the TS-E 17 for some reason. Finally, a green flash gel and flash bounced off the trees to emphasize the forest-like feel of the shot.

But wait there's more... I wanted a vehicle passing by in the shot with some motion (shot at 1/30 sec, ISO 800, f/4) and I got some decent cars in there - a BMW, a Porsche, etc. As I was about to pack up, a gorgeous white Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Roadster is coming up... I ran to the camera just in time to grab this shot:

And the rest of the set, with TS-E 17 and also with the 40mm Pancake (the shot with half the bike):

Very nice shot. I like the separate flash with blue gel for the background -- a nice touch! Thanks for sharing your setup. I like where this thread is going!

What kind of softboxes do you use, are they relatively portable / collapsible?

Thanks, I just re-edited it, I'll throw it up in a bit along with a few other's from the same night,I use the ezybox system from lastolite 21"x21" it's very portable, I've a few of the e-bay version's at 24"x24" they work just as-well but the build quality is far superior on the ezybox, apart from the mounts for the stand's the ebay one is made of metal and the lastolite is made of plastic,

All very portable, I have a 15"x8"x9" lighting bag,I can hold 2 softboxes and 3 flash guns, triggers and a whole bunch of other bits and bobs in there.

Dude thanks for sharing - that gives me hope that I can stick such a bag on the back of a bike :) Not too large at all. Time to think...

Looks great. I am of the opinion that you cannot have too many Ducati's on any one thread - bring them on!

Great photos fellas. Mine are nothing that crazy but I figured that I could share.
All of them were taken with an XT and kit lens except the first.

I call this one "Chop Shop"
My buddy was parting out a wrecked R1 and another wrecked bike.
