We'll see if Adobe can make CC fly over time. For now, I'm happy with LIghtroom 4.4 and CS6, though I mostly use CS6 for saving my Lightroom work into .tif and .jpg files. I know this can be done in Lightroom somehow, but I haven't taken the time to figure it out.. and control/E is so easy.

I suspect I'll cough up $79 for the the Lr5 upgrade (after their current crop of hot issues are dealt with in a 5.1 release)

And unless Photoshop Elements 12 comes out with something pretty swankin hot with a new feature - my v10 will be fine for now.

I haven't checked.... is it out in box form yet or still just in download form? I'm sure I'll spring for the upgrade too after the dust settles.

I just checked Amazon and only the Mac upgrade is available in box form. I'm sure the Windows upgrade will be around soon.

Well... I would say that LR5 is about the same speed-wise as LR4. At least, I didn't notice much of a difference on my machine. Also, if you do a lot of localized edits with the adjustment brush, you'd better have a lot of RAM. I had 8GB on my system, and after a few adjustment brush changes, the usage was almost 2GB. As soon as my computer started swapping Lightroom turned glacial. I just put 16GB in my machine last night and it's much, much better now. I don't recall this happening in LR4. Not sure if it's a bug that will be squashed or just their new algorithm for the adjustment brush.

Lightroom hasn't really been speedy since LR3, but to be fair they have made huge improvements in the image processing algorithms since then.

p.s. Brenda, congrats on your lens. The IS looks really impressive on it, I hope that you get some stunning shots on your vacation.

I only have 6gb ram and when Lr4 and 2 other programs are running like Chrome and Windows Live Mail - my ram rarely goes over 55%. I see Lr4/5 just use 1.8gb which is about the highest I've seen it... I never understood how 16GB ram to makes Lr run better - if Lr is only using less than 2gb?

what do you mean swapping below... the virtual ram?

I need a quad core... I've just done a google search on comparative speed between 4 & 5 and while the occasional person says Lr5 is faster - the typical reviews its about the same...

got out my 40 Hotcake today... its been lonesome for several months, poor little guy...

I enjoyed using it today, more so than the 85mm the other day because I was able to get closer to subjects
