Can you tell us a little about this 'awesome photo' with the man standing with the balloons please....? Was it sunset ? I love the light on the grass and colour of the sky and the balloons etc....

Just a superb image!

Thank you all, really appreciated! Yes it was taken last night at sunset :) I stacked the photo from several shots where the balloons are in several different places so that I could create an illusion of a massive amount of balloons. It was quite hard as I took this with shutter timer :D

Although I may be getting this lens, there is something I do not really like about the way the blury background is depicted...

I noticed it before I ever read anything about it and then I noticed there are topics mentioning this.

Does anyone knows of any reviews comparing the sigma 35 to canon or/ and other 35mm lenses and that might offer an insight on that issue?

What is is about the "blurry background" that you don't like? I know when the lens first came out (when people were obviously looking for flaws) there were a few short lived discussions about the differences in the bokeh produced by this lens in comparison to the 35L. I think it is really a matter of preference. I know there is another thread out there that has been going on and on for months nitpicking one thing or another. You might search for that one. I unsubscribed from it along time ago when I decided to stop obcessing about little things and chose to just go out and enjoy the lens I have! :D

I think the bokeh from this lens is just fine, and really, if you are looking to make sweet bokeh shots you probably should be shooting with a longer FL anyhow. (1.6, 1/500, 3200)

I almost gave up. First lens I got needed a +10 MA and had trouble with inconsistent focus. Sent it back. Decided to get another one in hopes that it would be "the one". Got it this morning and ran about 300 photos through it today. Nothing worth posting just a lot of shots in all kinds of light; indoor Florissant, tungsten, outside in sun, shade rain and after dark. Varied aperture from 1.4 to 16. VERY FEW non keepers. This lens is dead nuts on! This is just a shot taken really quickly at 1.4. 100% crop
