70-200 2.8 IS version 1. I wanted it for a long time and found one for cheap here b/c it had a scratch. It's still my favorite to this day and never had an issue. I love it. I just bought a new 100L tho.... so that marks my first "new" L

The 200mm II 2.8. Needed a fast and compact prime for sports shooting on my 7D. I was stunned by the quality of the bokeh and the sharpness. Blew away all the lenses I had at the time.
My next L lens was the 24-105mm, and I found it very disappointing and no better than crop lenses like the 15-85mm, not especially sharp, terribly distorted at the wide end, stiff zoom ring and just too big and bulky for something no faster than f4. Hence why I got the 24-70mm II. This lens is awesome and lives up to its reputation!

24-105 for my 50D, still my favourite L lens. I can't believe the so called 'kit lens' its sometimes labelled as, much better than the 18-55 !!!

I'll play...

First DSLR: Canon EOS 30D, Jul 2007
First L lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM, Feb 2012
Second L lens: Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, Mar 2012

2012 was an expensive year for me... :( Still love my old 30D though.

The 50/1.2L is almost solely responsible for me deciding to go the Canon route. I rented a 6D and 60/1.2L for a week long trip to New Orleans. One of my photos I took with this combo became my most popular photo of all time (over 300 favorites). Many others became my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th most popular of all time . . . all in a 1-week span. So I got home and ordered the 6D and 50/1.2L almost immediately.

My first L was the 16-35mk ii, but I sold that to buy my 6D. Now I have a 70-200 mk ii and will not be letting it go anytime soon!

In 2009 I bought an EF 200 f/2.8 L, and that was my gateway drug. My name is Ken, and I've been an L-aholic for 4 years!

Yeah, after I got my first "L", it just made me want more... gateway drug indeed.

I started shooting about 9 years ago with a 300D. About a year later I bought a 70-200L. One of the best purchases I've ever made. That lens is a work horse.

Last month, I sold and updated from an Xti with kit lense and thamron 70-300. First one was the 24-105, and a month later the 70-300L. And the next one might the 16-35 depending on how good the sigma 18-35 does.
