 I actually emailed them if I could do that since it is only a black marking. They did not bother commenting on that, instead gave me a CPS appointment Monday morning at 9am.

I'm going to die from laughter if you take it in on Monday 9am. And the guy at the reception desk takes out a black Sharpie and inks it for you. "Thank you. Have a nice day."

An appointment would actually work great for me now. I didn't know until last night that there was a dust like particle on my sensor. I tried blowing it out but didn't work, and no I'm not going to try to clean it on my own. I'm going to have them clean it up again. I hate it when a serviced product does not come back clean. I'll have my driver wait over there until they finish cleaning it (oh and black mark it with a sharpie!!).

I doubt it will simply be dust on your sensor, it is most likely lubricant thrown up from the shutter mechanism.......Many, many 1dx's are suffering from this problem, mine included......Not noticeable until you start stopping down past f11 or so.

Well, I believe they'll surely address this issue on Monday. If it happens again, I'll just drop it off again to clean it. I recently got 2 free cleans for this year anyways, so I don't really plan to stress about it. ;)

I just got my 1dx like 1 week ago and I must say I LOVE IT, the mainly difference in the 1DX and 5D III is the temperature and the distortion in the pictures. The 1D always has the perfect temperature when viewed in PS.

Mine is with CPS. They told me the problem was with lubricant from the mirror mechanism.

Aha, I said, I understand - mine has thrown a lot of tiny spots of oil on the sensor. Can you clean it please?

Aha yourself, he replied. Yes we'll clean it but the recall issue is that there is too little lubricant, not too much.

I'm guessing that means after a while left untreated, it could wear or seize. 12fps must do some damage

Lembeh, Indonesia

This place is amaaaaazing, above and below the water!

Both of these were shot in conditions where 99% of all other cameras would never grab accurate focus.

Some shots from a small bike show today. All shot with flash and a 24-105. Edited in Lightroom 5.

It seems my 1dx underexposed compared to my other bodies. Anyone else notice anything similar?

Were your other bodies full-frame?
It could be vignetting on the edges of the full frame and not underexposure...I noticed this on mine when I switched from the mkiv to the x
