Is there a way to use these (Mini TT1 and Flex TT5) with out this stupid "RF Sock"? Without the "Sock" I get about 6' max! The sock and hot shoe grounding adapter is a real pan in the A$$ to install and also makes thing like gels really hard to work with. I know about the "Hard" shield offered by PW, but that limits angling the flash head. For what I/we pay for these things, you would think PW or Canon would come up with a fix! Any ideas out there? Should I just count the PW's a loss and get another brand and would they do the same thing? No way can I get diff Speedlights.

That's what I did. Got rid of them and bought a Phottix Odin kit. 1 transmitter and 2 receivers. They work great, no misfires and do a lot more than my PW could. Shooting became a lot easier.

I use an ETTL cable to separate the Flextt5 from the 580exii. Drastically increases my distance.

I mostly used 430EXII flashes on the PW stuff, but when I did have a 580, I used a cable to put some distance between the 2, and that worked very well

Thanks for the input! I have a few cabels laying around, good idea! If that does not work for me, another brand it is! Thanks again!

OK, tried the Canon OC-E3 at diff distances from the flash, diff distance from the ground. Changed all batteries. Checked all settings in the PW utility, AC3 on and off, AC3 in M and in A settings. Camera in M, AV and TV modes. Two diff flashes and two diff TT5's all mixed in diff configurations to the TT5's antenna. The best I got out of them was approx 35 feet! Beside the Odins, are there any other systems that these 580EX II's don't mess with? How bout other Pocket Wizard stuff?
Decided not to do the internal "Fix" to the flashes because of the cost, I would rather put that $150 towards a more reliable system. I need for these things to work at a minimum of 50 feet every time!

One more note: Both 580's were in ETTL mode.

All your camera bodies are compatible with the (cheap) Yongnuo YN-622c E-TTL triggers.

I found that the Nissin Di866 speedlites don't have the RFI problem.
I have three of them I used successfully with my ControlTL stuff.
No they are surplus since I went to 600EX-RTs.

They are fabulous i use them all the time with my three 580 EX II flashes and they been outstanding. They have been 100% reliable. Make sure you update your Odins to the newest firmware version. The one before the last release unless you are shooting with a 1DX.
