This is definitely more than I'll be able to swing for quite awhile, but doesn't seem too excessive in absolute terms.

Nikon 14-24 with adapter
Samyang 24 f/1.4
Canon 24-70 f/2.8 II
Canon 70-200 f/4 IS


Nikon D610, D5100

What I have now is decently realistic...

24-70 2.8 V1
70-200 2.8 V1
50 1.4

Though thinking of swapping out the 24-70 for a siggy 35 1.4

canon 10-22, canon 50f1.4, 70-200 f4, 500f4is, 600f4is hehuse them all now that i have the 400do/500f4is/600f4 a custom brackets gimbal and carbon fiber pod lol


wants for Ls :D , now have 400do;500f4is,600f4 :cool::cool: off to birding and airshows:):):)

^^This is what I own now and what I would call the "essentials kit".

Just added an 85L though. That one I simply like to own and play with. It isn't a necessity at all but I love it so now I have it :-)

Canon 24-70mm ƒ/2.8L II
Canon 24mm ƒ/1.4L II
Sigma 35mm ƒ/1.4 "Art"
Sigma 50mm ƒ/1.4 (probably will sell and get the Rokinon 14mm ƒ/2.8. The Zeiss is that good...)

It's kinda subjective, what I consider realistic may not be the case to others but the collection I have in my signature is realistic enough for me. :)

Ideally, it would be

The new Canon UWA zoom that's rumored (14-24 or something in that range)
24-70 II
The new Sigma 120-300mm
24L II or 35L for low light
and a extender for the Sigma


Canon 60D, EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6,
Canon 5D III, EF 24-105 f/4L IS, EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II, EF 24mm f/1.4L

i am now selling my two sigmas so i can afford the 50mm L :D
