60D users, friends and their random OT B.S. (II)

Well I just looked around online and over at B&H the 60D is selling for $599 brand new, which is a pretty insane price. Also the CPS points for the 60D have dropped to 2, and the 50D is now worth nothing so I suppose the 70D really is coming..

70D - so we still need to see if it comes with Focus Micro-adjust - I understand its not a feature that would make it on the box...


I see now that it comes with the STM lenses

I wonder what the next 7D will bring to the table, or if there will be another 7D, this could be the new pinnacle of crops.

if the 70D comes with more than 8FPS, there's probably be no more 7D. just a guess.

when do you think this will be released? just speculating because i'm presently helping a friend(total beginner) buy a DSLR and i'm recommending the 60D. But now that this very convincing rumor came out, i would like him to wait if he can.

My son grabbed my SL1 and took a snap of his fave stuff toy. he's becoming like me. he was on his knees when he composed this shot.

no flash. backlight were from the sliding door from the kitchen.

I've been saying for a year that the jpeg NR is amazingly good if you ETTR and nobody listens.

Only recently I discovered an action that beats the SOOC jpeg in sharpness at high ISO with ETTR. Absolutely spectacular...

Well, if the rumored specs are correct it's 7 fps.

That is a pretty convincing looking shot of the box or a spec sheet, I have heard it will be announced on July 2. You can get the 60D for insanely low prices now, it makes it hard to pass up.

I think for a friend and a total beginner I'd lean him toward a 60D kit as the prices are dropping, unless money is not an issue. With the money he'd save, down the road, invest in another lens or flash as the need arises.

Agree totally.

As for me...I am debating selling my 60D and the 18-135, think I should sell them separate or as a kit?

I may hold on to it for a while tho waiting for a deal on the 70D. All subject to wife approval.

I agree 100%.

The 70D brings some interesting things to the table, but it's competing against the D7100, so it will probably sell in the $1100-1200 range.

Vinz, after seeing the photos from the SL1, it's not surprising to me that they were considering putting it's sensor in the 70D. I read on Canon rumors that they had 2 types of prototypes out, one with the SL1 sensor and one with a new sensor. I guess in the end they went with the new one, they probably felt that they had to since the D7100 is 24MP. And here I thought that the MP wars were over.

I hope that the new sensor performs as well as the SL1 in terms of noise, and I really hope that Canon has figured out a way to bump up the dynamic range.

It's really appealing to me, but my money is probably better spent on glass at this point, the 60D is not limiting me in any way.
