I want to order an ND filter for my 85 1.2. Have about 250.00 to spend. Anyone out there using the 85 with ND filter (either Variable or Single) have any advice?

Thanks.

I'd recommend b&w. Their filters are really good and rings are made of bronze and won't warp over time. And maybe you'd like a 6 or 10 stop filter so you can shoot 1.2 @ 1/8000 and not over expose your shots on a bright sunny day.

I use a Singh Ray Vari-n-trio. They have a standard Vari-ND as well without the warming/polarizing, etc.

get a 77mm ND and step down ring so you can use it on your 85L along with any other lens with 77mm filter.

I use a 3-stop heliopan ND filter with mine.

I own a few B&W filters and they all have a colorcast to them. (2 stop B&W 82mm ND has a warmish cast, 3 stop B&W 77mm ND has a coolish cast).

The heliopan is expensive, but is a truly neutral ND filter!

Good choice. I love my B&Hs. Hoya's Pro1 series is damn close, but my B&H covers have just lasted longer.
