What should Rokinon make next?

Just wondering, what lens would you want Rokinon to make next? Also, how much would you pay for said lens?

Personally, I'd like to have a 50mm 1.2 from Rokinon. I wouldn't shell out a ton of cash, though. If the optics were better than the canon 50 1.4, I'd pay $350, if the optics are like canon's 50 1.4, I'd probably pay $250.

I'd gladly sacrifice autofocus for a sharp 50 with an extra third stop of light!

Yup, +1 for Samyang 50mm f/1.2. Or how about a real surprise, 50mm f/1 :D

Have them buy all the rights, patents, specs for the (no longer made) Leica R lenses and make them all ! A person can dream, can't they?

I am no Samyang fan - I have a defective Samyang 14 and seen their build quality. (external link)
I hope that Zenit builds its 50mm/1.2 lens prototype (external link) in series production.

But I think the probably try the ~50mm focal length fast lens - probably even faster than f/1.2.

But I think with Samyang plastic build quality a lot of Leica lens charm gets lost. And with Leica build quality most likely a lot of Samyang prices gets lost.

:-)

I think there are statisfied Samyang 24TS users. Some few :-)
But I think this lens shows that Samyang is not as magical like some seem to believe.

Be nice to see a 50mm f/1.4, and a 21mm f/2.8 lens.

Yes, a lens around 20mm focal length, f/2.8 or f/2, without much distorsions. Their 24mm f/1.4 has too much distorsions for my taste.

...

I think allowance of bigger distorsionss is a part why Samyang could get the lenses cheap.
Their lenses are digital optimized, distrosion could be relativly easy eliminated with Lightroom/Photoshop/..

In contrast Zeiss makes lenses that could be used for slide film with no problem.

Which really sucks because I want to believe!

I have owned two Rokinons in the past and both have blown me away. (The 85 and the 14)

I REALLY REALLY wished the 24TS would have pulled that Samyang magic, cause the next best option is over twice as much.

I actually want to be more ambitious - how about a crop-only 50mm f1.0, or even f0.9? Crop-only lenses of this kind should be more doable than for FF. This would be a dream portrait lens for us crop shooters :) .

I'd pay something like 700-800$ for such a lens.

Hands-down, a UWA zoom with sharpness similar to their legendary 14mm f/2.8. Something like a 14-24mm f/2.8 priced around $1000 would be marvelous. Even a 14-24mm f/4 or 16-35mm f/4 at $700 would be a refreshing alternative to the 17-40L and its poor corner performance.
