With that low of a shutter count ( you lucky dog ) I'd keep it and when you have some down time send it in to Canon for fix. They will also clean and adjust the camera for you.

From what I read it's a non-issuse in daylight/sunlight... only when doing night/dark shots where a hard light, that is brighter than the scene, hitting the top of the camera.

My refurbed will be here Monday... crossing my finger for a low shutter count!

You're probably right, but I've already got all the labels and boxed everything back up. I'm being more patient this time though as I can't afford to just up and purchase a third camera, so hopefully I'll have a replacement by the end of next week. It will be a long wait though now that I've got both the two 2.8 II lenses here and not as much for the D800. Hopefully the 3rd times the charm right? I'm half tempted to not do any sort of test on the next one I receive ha.

Thanks for providing the info Ed. The only way they got away with it is because the Buffalo is accustomed to the presence of humans, and they don't always show signs of aggression before charging. Both those guys would have been lucky to make it to those rocks if the Buff would have gone off. I have been around cattle most of my life, and buffalo on occasion, and they don't always show their intent. Those two were both foolish and lucky, and your photo provides a perfect example of what not to do in the wild.

first they tried to pet a cow who was laying in a sandpit but she was having none of it. the bull was napping when they approached it. I figure that may have had something to do with his docile temperament.

If everything else is good with this one, why are you trying a third? Just send this one for the fix and get it back, still perfect with 20 some clicks on the shutter.

Good point, it probably has the same turn around time. I'm going to call them back.

Yes I called back and cancelled the RMA and scheduled service. I should be sending it out monday for the fix. Thank you to both of you for saving me from gambling on a third.

Glad you got it worked out. You still have the D800 to use until you get your real camera back. ;)

Good Job! That's the best move! I'm still crossing my fingers that my refurbed has a low shutter count... Monday!
