Hello everyone, since I have some of these little fellas here, I will take what I can get. Still a very slow, short Hummingbirds presence this year. I heard through the grapevine that Duane was keeping a bunch of them in the studio down there, fattening them up, lol. Here are a few at different speeds we had hot sun and thick puffy clouds today, a storm will be here shortly, I hope it cools down a bit, back to work tomorrow.....doh. ( I might be wrong about that Duane thing but He was in the paper down there... )

A lot of people love the frozen wing Hummer shots, as nice as they are, I like to get some prop blur and the way their wings bend at the speeds they are moving, got a little today but the light was changing between full sun and full cloud..,

Fantastic captures BG! I'm really digging the unique prop blur on number one.

Thank You everyone, very much appreciated!
Slice, I had the settings a bit fast and didn't get a whole sweep with all the lines from the top edge of the wing, but I will. It is supposed to be nice this saturday and I hope I am lucky enough to sit out back all day and have fun. if all the planets align I guess.....
Thanks again everyone!

Those are just awesome, Bret, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how you get that kind of body clarity at those ss speeds and no flash freeze. I assumed the whole body vibrates from the wing action and fast ss or low power flash is necessary to get good IQ. You just blew that theory. Guess that's why my pixs look like they do. You're the master.

Super shots Bret. Nice to see such great light and natural background.

Seeing images like yours sometimes makes me want to trade in my 300 f2.8 for a 500 f4.

Thank You Rog, very much appreciate it.
They almost always will hit the feeder then hover back to a spot, hit the feeder and go back to the exact spot or very close to it. The one here now is skittish I have 10 - 15 seconds if I am lucky but watch them through the glass and set focus to where they hover so friggin cooly back away too and you will find they are looking at you to see what you are doing! It takes a little practice but they are very reliable. If there are turf battles, you get some great stuff fast action though.
Thanks again my friend!
