How soon can we expect to see the actual product? I've ordered it but Blurb gave me no indication of how long it usually takes.

Loaner, when I ordered, Blurb gave me choices in shipping prices, which included the delivery dates. I don't think this is the place to ask about shipping dates. Blurb prints when they have orders. Check your order for your delivery date.

Ask Blurb. Once you ordrered its in their hands and when you ordered you got two choices of approx delivery dates so you should in fact know this already.

And you can even check the date if you login to your account.

huh?

last time i recall people submitting photos to a gallery for voting, w/ the final call being done by the book committee.

so no one (outside of the enclave who expelled white smoke at some point) saw any of the potential photos for inclusion and won't until the book is published?

There was a lengthy publicly announced period (I think it was at least a month) for submissions. There were some reminder public announcements of the deadline. After that, the image managers prepared the polls for voting in each share. The voting was open to all forum members and went on for several weeks. After that, there was an additional closed round of voting by the Panel members to choose additional images for each share. Following that, a round of tie-breaking voting by the volunteers was conducted. Each share had a predetermined number of images allowed in order to fit the format and size of the book. Once all of the voting had been verified, the real work of building the book began.

I was the first to order (obviously), but my delivery date is 19 July. Go figure. ;) The last time that I checked, the status was still in production. I ordered volume 3 of the POTN Book last year an it took about 2½ weeks to receive it.

Maybe the print lab in europe is closer to me than the us print lab is to you? btw I choose the quickest delivery option of the two available.

Being basically frugal (AKA "cheap"), I went for the least expensive shipping by pack animal.

I also suspect that the Fourth of July holiday created a backlog for Blurb in the US.

Mine is July 19 also..
I believe that they make a point of being able to set up to print.. and then print as many at once as they can. They gathered up some orders to make it more economical.

I just ordered mine. The JUNESALE code still work for the discount. I am getting it on July 18, for an extra dollar. Nex time, I promise my photos will be included. I had no idea this project was cooking. Great job.

This project started before you were a member so that is why you hadn't heard of it. The gestation period for volume 4 was considerably longer than previous volumes, but it is sort of amazing that such a project can happen at all considering that the workers are all volunteers and that they are located all over the world. While there was a small amount of phone communication, 99.94% is written email and PM.

My thanks for the delivery advice. Blurb have given me none of this which makes me think that it will not be soon!

Tommy, so its printed and shipped, now that's impressive.
